emirates7 - Etihad Water and Electricity (EtihadWE) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Investment and Development Office of Ras Al Khaimah (IDO) to explore the possibility of offering preferential electricity tariffs to industrial customers in the emirate.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Sheikh Khalid bin Saud Al Qasimi, Vice Chairman of Ras Al Khaimah’s Investment and Development Office, and Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Etihad Water and Electricity.
This agreement is part of EtihadWE’s strategic initiative to support the industrial sector in the Northern Emirates. It formalizes the intention of both parties to negotiate a binding bulk supply agreement (BSA) between EtihadWE and a nominee selected by IDO.
Once finalized, the BSA will offer eligible industrial customers in Ras Al Khaimah discounted electricity rates through a bulk aggregation mechanism.
Yousif Ahmed Al Ali, CEO of Etihad Water and Electricity, emphasized, “This MoU with the Investment and Development Office of Ras Al Khaimah reflects our commitment to supporting the industrial sector in the Northern Emirates. By exploring opportunities for competitive electricity pricing, we aim to foster a positive business environment, driving economic growth and job creation in the region.”
He added, “This initiative will benefit industrial businesses, their employees, customers, and communities, while also contributing to the broader national economy.”
Mohammed Sultan Al Qadi, Managing Director of the Investment and Development Office of Ras Al Khaimah, noted, “This collaboration underscores our shared commitment to supporting businesses and promoting growth in Ras Al Khaimah. By exploring energy solutions that enhance accessibility and affordability, we aim to valuable opportunities for industries, their workforce, and the wider community.”
