emirates7 - China's production and sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) saw a significant year-on-year growth of over 30% from January to November, with NEVs accounting for more than 40% of total automobile sales for the first time, according to recent data.
China Central Television (CCTV) reported that during this period, NEV production reached 11.345 million units, while sales totaled 11.262 million units, marking increases of 34.6% and 35.6%, respectively.
The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers noted that NEV sales contributed to 40.3% of total car sales.
In November alone, national NEV production rose sharply by 45.8% year-on-year to nearly 1.57 million units, with sales climbing 47.4% to 1.51 million units. NEVs represented 45.6% of all new car sales for the month.
"The NEV sector maintained rapid growth in November, with monthly production and sales both exceeding 1.5 million units. From January to November, cumulative NEV sales surpassed 40% of total automobile sales for the first time, significantly contributing to the overall market growth," stated Chen Shihua, Deputy Secretary-General of the association.
