emirates7 - TRENDS Research and Advisory has partnered with the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing sustainable development goals and bolstering the UAE's food security system. This collaboration will involve a series of nationwide surveys and field studies over three to four months, targeting diverse segments of the UAE population.
The agreement was formalized during the Abu Dhabi Global Food Security Week, held at the ADNEC Centre in Abu Dhabi, in the presence of Dr. Amna bint Abdullah Al Dahak, Minister of Climate Change and Environment. The MoU was signed by Mohammed Saeed Al-Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the Ministry, and Dr. Mohammed Abdullah Al-Ali, CEO of TRENDS Research and Advisory.
Al-Nuaimi emphasized that the partnership with TRENDS underscores the Ministry's dedication to addressing challenges in achieving sustainable food security. He highlighted the importance of leveraging advanced technologies and data to transform food and agriculture systems into sustainable models.
“The Ministry is collaborating with federal, local, and private sector entities to fulfill the objectives of the National Food Security Strategy 2051, particularly in boosting local production of strategic crops. Through partnerships like this, we can better achieve our goals and secure a sustainable food future for the UAE,” he said.
Dr. Al-Ali noted that the MoU focuses on supporting sustainable development and enhancing food security through comprehensive field studies and surveys. These efforts aim to provide accurate data essential for assessing the current state of food security and identifying its challenges.
As part of the MoU, the Ministry and TRENDS will conduct studies to pinpoint obstacles affecting agriculture and food production in the UAE. The surveys will also analyze consumer behaviors through opinion polls, offering insights into sustainability and healthy nutrition preferences. These findings will inform policies that address community needs and advance sustainable development initiatives.
