Dubai resident with vitiligo crowned Miss Universe Egypt 2024

emirates7 - A Dubai resident and model, Logina Salah, who faced bullying during her childhood due to a skin condition, has been crowned Miss Universe Egypt 2024. At 34, Salah has vitiligo, which causes loss of skin pigment in patches. She expressed her excitement about representing Egypt at the global Miss Universe competition, set to take place in Mexico from November 14 to 16, with over 130 countries participating in the 73rd edition of the pageant.

"I am thrilled to represent Egypt, women with vitiligo, and anyone who has ever felt out of place," Salah told *The National*. She shared that after suffering bullying for many years because of her condition, it took her 15 years to embrace self-love. "My mission is to empower those who feel marginalized, reminding them that they are not alone, and I aim to make a significant impact on the global Miss Universe stage."

Salah began her career as a makeup artist in Alexandria before transitioning to a content creator, where her unique look and confidence garnered attention. She has collaborated with renowned brands such as Chanel, Dior Beauty, Hindash, Charlotte Tilbury, and Sephora Beauty.

Three years ago, she relocated to Dubai with her 10-year-old daughter to follow her dreams and has since appeared on numerous runways and in fashion magazines.

During the weekend, Salah triumphed over 12 finalists to win the Miss Universe Egypt 2024 title at an event in Cairo, streamed live on YouTube. Contestants were evaluated in four segments: personal interviews, swimwear, evening gown, and the final question round.

Josh Yugen, the president and national director of Miss Universe Egypt, stated that Salah "captivated the judges and the audience with her charismatic beauty, authentic communication skills, and passion for her advocacy." He noted that out of more than 130 contestants competing for the Miss Universe crown in Mexico, Salah stands out as the first representative with a unique skin condition, having overcome bullying during her formative years. "After 15 long years, she has finally embraced and fully loved herself. I wholeheartedly support the empowerment of these remarkable women," Yugen added.

With over 1.8 million followers on Instagram, Salah is also one of the most-followed contestants on social media. Yugen Group, owned by Yugen, holds franchise rights for Miss Universe Bahrain and Miss Universe Pakistan.

This year’s Miss Universe competition is set to be historic, as it will eliminate previous restrictions, including age, marital status, and body type for all contestants. For the first time last year, mothers were also allowed to participate. Reigning Miss Universe Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua will crown her successor at the event, taking place at the Arena CDMX in Mexico City.
