emirates7 - Marc Hirschi extended his impressive winning streak ahead of the World Championships in Zurich by securing another victory at the Memorial Pantani in Cesenatico, Italy. The 26-year-old puncheur executed a well-timed sprint, surging to the front of a reduced peloton. The 195km race, which started in Cesena, was largely controlled by Hirschi's UAE team. Filippo Baroncini launched a powerful attack that lasted until the final kilometre, where the riders faced a headwind sprint, ultimately reabsorbing Baroncini's effort.
This win marks Hirschi's fifth consecutive victory, as he now sets his sights on the Trofeo Matteotti and the Tour of Luxembourg. His team, UAE, has also reached a milestone with 72 wins this season.
Reflecting on the race, Hirschi commented, "It was a challenging race that we managed from the outset. Baroncini’s early attack put us in a strong position, and we tried to hold things up behind him. Unfortunately, he was caught in the final 500 meters, so I positioned myself well for the sprint, taking advantage of the headwind. I'm pleased to keep the winning streak going, and I hope my good fortune continues."
