Sheikh Mohammed praises Dubai Metro workers on 15th anniversary

emirates7 - On September 9, marking the 15th anniversary of the iconic driverless train, Dubai's Ruler expressed gratitude for the Dubai Metro workers' dedication on X. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, highlighted that the Metro has transported 2.4 billion passengers across more than 4.3 million trips. He noted that the Metro has achieved a 99.7% adherence to its schedule and aims for a perfect 100% punctuality.

Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that punctuality embodies a cultural and virtuous value, reflecting the emirate’s commitment to this standard. He extended his thanks and appreciation to all Dubai Metro staff for upholding this cultural value.

In celebration of 15 years of service, Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is launching various limited-edition items and initiatives. Notably, Metro babies born on September 9 can qualify for academic sponsorship by the RTA for higher education, subject to specific conditions. Additionally, Metro babies born between 2009 and 2023 are invited to a celebration at Legoland Dubai on September 21, 2024.

From September 21 to 27, UAE residents can enjoy musical performances at Metro stations featuring both Emirati and international artists. There will also be discounts on Nol cards for 5,000 lucky winners who find special codes on the sticks of limited-edition Metro-shaped ice creams. Other anniversary offerings include Metro-themed souvenirs, limited-edition postage stamps, and special Nol cards designed by Lego Dubai.
