emirates7 - Defending champions Inter Milan secured a 2-0 victory over Lecce at home in Serie A on Saturday, with goals from Matteo Darmian and Hakan Calhanoglu marking their first win of the season.
Following a 2-2 draw at Genoa last weekend, Inter took control of the match and temporarily ascended to the top of the table with four points.
Darmian scored the opening goal within five minutes, heading the ball into the net after it deflected in front of him. Calhanoglu then extended the lead with a penalty in the 69th minute, awarded after Kialonda Gaspar fouled Marcus Thuram. Calhanoglu successfully converted his 17th penalty out of 17 in Serie A.
Inter played without captain Lautaro Martinez, who was out due to a muscle injury. Lecce, who began their third consecutive Serie A season with a 4-0 home loss to Atalanta, will face Cagliari on August 31.
Earlier on Saturday, AC Milan suffered a surprising 2-1 defeat against promoted Parma, while 10-man Udinese defeated Lazio 2-1, and Genoa moved up to second in the standings with a 1-0 win over Monza.
