Cairo Derby ends in thrilling draw

The Reds were off to an impressive start when Mohamed Sherif capitalised on a poor clearance from Abdel Ghani on 12 minutes.

Al Ahly managed to hold out their rivals for the remaining stages of the first half, before the visitors got the next goal as Achraf Bencharki powered home a header from close range with the Reds' goal keeper standing by idle.

Zamalek made it 2-1 after another blunder from the goalkeeper before the Red Devils were back on level terms in the 80th minute when Salah Mohsen nodded home a cross also poorly managed by the Whites' defence.

The encounter left Zamalek top of the Egyptian Premier League standings, four points above Al Ahly, who sit fourth with three games less.
