'In our developmental work, we follow in the footsteps of Sheikh Zayed': ADFD Director-General

emirates7 - Mohamed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), called Zayed Humanitarian Work Day an exceptional occasion for Emirati people, who hold the UAE's Founding Father in reverence for his humanitarian principles and noble values that formed the very foundation of the country.

"Sheikh Zayed took the humanitarian route to develop the nation, while also bringing prosperity for millions of people worldwide through developmental projects and donation of aid without discrimination," Al Suwaidi pointed out. He added that ADFD is one of those national institutions firmly rooted in Sheikh Zayed's principles and follows his vision of sustainable development and financing sustainable projects in developing countries.

Al Suwaidi underscored the Fund's commitment to follow in the footsteps of Sheikh Zayed and carry out the leadership directives to stand by the international community and enable it to overcome any developmental challenges.

He mentioned that the UAE emerged as a global model of development, aid donations and humanitarian assistance, reiterating the promise to continue to work towards supporting and fulfilling the United Nations' 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

"On this day, we are reminded of the historical achievements of Sheikh Zayed, who built the UAE as a nation of peace and tolerance," Al Suwaidi said. "We will continue to build bridges of trust with nations, provide developmental support to them, promote the national economy, enable the local industry to become more competitive – in line with the UAE's vision and strategy – and support our country in its effort to diversify the economy and make it more sustainable."
