GCC reaffirms support for Saudi-led two-state solution initiative: Albudaiwi

emirates7 - Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi emphasized that the recent GCC foreign ministers’ coordination meeting reaffirmed their backing of Saudi Arabia’s proposal to form a global coalition aimed at implementing the two-state solution and advancing efforts to resolve the Palestinian issue.

His remarks came following his participation in a coordination session held Monday on the sidelines of the United Nations High-Level International Conference on “The Peaceful Settlement of the Question of Palestine and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution,” hosted by Kuwait’s Permanent Mission to the UN in New York.

During the meeting, the GCC foreign ministers reviewed a number of related matters, focusing on the latest developments in the Palestinian territories and Gaza, as well as coordinating their positions on key themes discussed at the international conference.

Albudaiwi also highlighted the dire humanitarian conditions in Gaza, where severe shortages of aid and medical supplies persist amid exceptional circumstances. He attributed the crisis to the ongoing blockade and rigid stance of the Israeli occupation forces, accusing them of using starvation as a weapon against civilians — actions that, he stressed, contravene international law, UN resolutions, and humanitarian principles, and have fueled the spread of famine.

He urged for greater regional and international mobilization — in coordination with countries, organizations, and institutions — to end the siege on the Palestinian population and facilitate the immediate, unrestricted delivery of humanitarian and relief aid.
