Emirates, Air China ink MoU to explore enhanced partnership

emirates7 - Emirates and Air China have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to a strategic framework aimed at expanding their existing reciprocal interline cooperation.

The agreement was signed during the 81st Annual General Meeting (IATA AGM) and World Air Transport Summit (WATS) held in New Delhi.

The MoU signing was conducted by Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates, and Yan Fei, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Air China, alongside senior executives from both airlines.

Adnan Kazim highlighted that their partnership began 26 years ago, benefiting around 18,000 Emirates customers through their interline agreement. He also mentioned the recent launch of flights to two new Chinese cities, Shenzhen and Hangzhou, which will further enhance Emirates' presence in East Asia.

Yan Fei expressed Air China’s strong appreciation for the partnership, calling the MoU an important step in deepening collaboration between the two airlines.

As part of the MoU, Emirates and Air China will explore reciprocal codeshare agreements on selected routes across their networks. This will enable both airlines to place their flight codes on each other’s services on key China-UAE routes and beyond, extending to more destinations from Beijing and Dubai.

The two carriers will also work on cooperation frameworks involving cargo operations and their respective frequent flyer programs, aiming to increase value for both passengers and commercial clients.

To improve customer experience, they will investigate aligning flight schedules and adjusting minimum connecting times to ensure smooth connections. Once implemented, passengers will benefit from easier booking, single-ticket itineraries, and expanded lounge access to new destinations.

In addition to commercial ties, both airlines plan to share best practices in revenue management, data analytics, digitalisation, brand management, and sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) through joint knowledge exchanges and familiarisation visits.

Starting 30th July, Emirates will operate 49 weekly flights to mainland China, including twice-daily flights to Beijing and Shanghai, plus daily services to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou.
