Flooding in western China destroys dozens of homes and roads

emirates7 - Heavy flooding in southwestern China has damaged dozens of roads and homes. In Yunnan province’s mountainous Nujiang Lisu Autonomous Prefecture, 27 houses and 16 bridges have been damaged or destroyed as of Sunday.

So far, no deaths, injuries, or missing persons have been reported, even though the area is popular with tourists and Monday is a national holiday.

Landslides and floods have also blocked roads in the Diqing Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, with rescue operations slowed down by thick fog.

The flooding led to the evacuation of 300 tourists from the Meri Snow Mountain scenic area in the prefecture, and several hundred local residents were also relocated to safer places.

More rainfall is forecast in the coming days.
