emirates7 - A 5.1-magnitude earthquake hit General Nakar in Quezon province, Philippines, on Tuesday, according to an initial bulletin from the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The quake was also felt in various parts of Metro Manila.
Phivolcs stated that the epicenter was situated 24 kilometers northwest of General Nakar and that the tremor was tectonic in nature, caused by the movement of a nearby active fault line.
The agency warned that aftershocks may follow.
