emirates7 - Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, the Fujairah Adventures Centre will host the inaugural Fujairah International Conference on Adventure Tourism.
This groundbreaking event—the first of its kind in the UAE—is being organised in collaboration with the United Nations World Tourism Organisation and will run from April 30 to May 2, 2025, in Fujairah. The conference will leverage the emirate’s natural landscapes, robust infrastructure, and its growing potential as a hub for adventure tourism.
The event aims to support economic diversification and bolster tourism growth strategies by positioning Fujairah as a top-tier destination for adventure travel, both regionally and internationally.
Conference sessions are designed to elevate Fujairah’s global profile, draw strategic investments, and establish a regional blueprint for sustainable adventure tourism. The event is also expected to encourage new partnerships, spur investments, and set new industry benchmarks.
Amr Zein Eddine, Director of the Fujairah Adventures Centre and Chair of the Conference's Higher Organising Committee, described the conference as a major step forward for the region’s adventure tourism development. He praised the strong support from H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi, and highlighted the significance of hosting such an event in Fujairah. “This reflects our dedication to sustainable tourism, protecting Fujairah’s geological and cultural heritage, and advancing the UAE’s global role in responsible tourism. By convening top experts and partners from across the globe, we’re shaping an adventure tourism model that benefits local communities while safeguarding the environment,” he said.
The conference programme includes talks, keynote speeches, and five in-depth panel discussions covering key topics: “Investment & Growth: Opportunities & Challenges in the Adventure Industry,” “Safety & Standards: Global Best Practices in Exploration & Recreation,” “Sustainability & Community: Preserving Nature & Empowering Local Economies,” and “Innovation & Youth: Startups, Universities, Influencers and UN Tourism Affiliate Members Leading the Way in Sports & Adventure Tourism.”
Representatives from the UN World Tourism Organisation, along with high-level decision-makers and industry professionals, will also take part. The conference will unveil the region’s first standardised adventure tourism framework and introduce the Arabic edition of the UIAA book to promote safety and best practices in the field.
The opening day will feature MoU signings and a book launch, while the remaining days will offer immersive outdoor activities across Fujairah—such as visits to Sheikh Zayed Mosque, Fujairah Fort, cultural experiences in Al Taiba Village, hiking in Wadi Wurrayah Reserve, and deep-sea fishing paired with local culinary experiences.
