UAE: New rules to regulate veterinary work, fines for unlicensed activity

emirates7 - The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has issued a resolution to safeguard animal health and enhance biosecurity across the Emirate

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has issued a resolution regulating veterinary medical practices in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The resolution aims to protect animal health and strengthen biosecurity across the Emirate by regulating the licensing of veterinary establishments and their staff while introducing administrative fines for violators to ensure compliance, enforce the law, and boost public confidence in the safety and quality of veterinary services.

Under the provisions of the resolution, veterinary establishments are prohibited from appointing veterinarians or allied veterinary medical professionals without prior authorisation from ADAFSA.

Establishments must also obtain a licence before engaging in any veterinary activity within the Emirate. Administrative fines will be imposed on violators, with penalties doubled in cases of repeated offences within one year of the initial violation.

ADAFSA explained that the new resolution aims to make veterinary services more efficient, boost the confidence of livestock breeders and the public in the care provided, ensure professionals are properly qualified, regulate the veterinary workforce, and prevent violations through fines for those who don’t comply.

To support this, ADAFSA will run an awareness campaign for veterinary clinics, their staff, livestock owners, and the public, helping everyone understand the resolution and follow it correctly.
