Dubai Culture unveils creative burst to Al Quoz with new murals

emirates7 - Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) has revealed two impressive murals in the Al Quoz Creative Zone as part of the Dubai Public Art Strategy.

This initiative aims to offer unique artistic experiences to the community, helping transform the city into an open-air art gallery. It supports Dubai’s vision to establish itself as a global cultural hub, a breeding ground for creativity, and a vibrant center for talented individuals.

The mural series highlights the work of three female artists whose creations capture the distinctive spirit of Al Quoz. Inspired by the area’s character and energy, these murals turn public spaces into iconic landmarks. Collectively, they strengthen Al Quoz’s reputation as a welcoming space for creative professionals and entrepreneurs from diverse backgrounds, fostering an environment where ideas can thrive.

Egyptian visual artist and muralist Rabab Tantawy’s mural, titled ‘Vibrant Voices of Al Quoz,’ celebrates the district’s lively atmosphere and unique identity. Located on the Aramtec building façade, it depicts colorful scenes of spice stalls, lanterns, and traditional Arabic coffee pots, framed by architectural elements like arches and domes, reflecting Al Quoz’s dynamic vibe.

Meanwhile, Emirati artist Hend Al Murid collaborated with Syrian muralist Dina Saadi on ‘Wonder Windows,’ a large mural on the façade of the WooHoo interactive children’s museum. Their artwork invites visitors on a magical journey of exploration, combining symbols such as the Hudhud bird (hoopoe), the dalla (local coffee pot), traditional Emirati decorative patterns, childhood memories, and a sense of curiosity.

Shaima Rashid Al Suwaidi, CEO of the Arts, Design & Literature Sector at Dubai Culture, emphasized how the Dubai Public Art Strategy enriches the cultural landscape and helps transform the city into an open-air gallery.

She stated, “These murals are a valuable addition to the Al Quoz Creative Zone, a place known for inspiring innovation and giving young talent the space to pursue their ambitions. Dubai Culture is dedicated to nurturing creativity and supporting artists in expressing the spirit of the UAE in unique ways. This effort is part of our larger mission to build a sustainable environment that reinforces Dubai’s status as a leading global city to live, grow, and enjoy new experiences.”

Mozah Lootah, Dubai Public Art Project Manager at Dubai Culture, spoke about how the murals bring originality and diversity to Al Quoz in both concept and execution.

She said, “The Dubai Public Art Strategy offers a framework that empowers local creatives to share their perspectives by transforming our neighborhoods, plazas, and public spaces into cultural destinations. These artworks encourage meaningful interaction between artists and the public while also contributing to Dubai’s tourism growth.”
