emirates7 - The United Arab Emirates is continuing maintenance work on drinking water wells in central Gaza as part of its ongoing humanitarian initiative, "Operation Chivalrous Knight 3."
This effort, carried out in collaboration with Sharjah Charity International, the Saqr bin Mohammed Al Qasimi Charity and Humanitarian Foundation, and Dar Al Ber Society, is coordinated with the Coastal Municipalities Water Utility in Gaza. The project is part of a larger plan to restore essential water infrastructure throughout the Gaza Strip.
The initiative comes at a critical time, as Gaza faces an acute water crisis driven by prolonged humanitarian challenges and widespread destruction of infrastructure. With desalination plants out of service and fuel in short supply, access to clean water has become a pressing need amid growing thirst, disease, and malnutrition.
The project involves rehabilitating water well systems, repairing pumps and generators, and bringing inactive wells back into operation. These efforts aim to ensure the flow of clean water to hundreds of thousands of people in central Gaza and to help ease the worsening humanitarian situation.
Ensuring water security continues to be a top priority for the UAE under “Operation Chivalrous Knight 3,” which began at the start of the war. Among the operation’s key efforts is a project to supply desalinated water from Egypt to the Al-Mawasi areas in Rafah and Khan Younis, expected to benefit approximately 600,000 residents in southern Gaza.
