Team Abu Dhabi gears up to defend UIM F2 World Championship title in Lithuania

emirates7 - Team Abu Dhabi is gearing up to compete in the second round of the UIM F2 World Championship, set to take place in Klaipėda, Lithuania, on July 18 and 19. The round promises intense rivalry among a distinguished field of the world’s top powerboat drivers.

Representing the team will be boat No. 1, piloted by reigning world champion Rashed Al Qemzi, and boat No. 35, driven by Mansoor Al Mansoori. Both racers are focused on defending the championship title claimed last season and upholding Team Abu Dhabi’s impressive legacy in the sport.

Al Qemzi and Al Mansoori are preparing with determination for this crucial round in Lithuania following a challenging start to the season in Brindisi, Italy, last June. A technical issue forced Al Qemzi out of the opening race, while Al Mansoori’s boat overturned during the final laps.

With renewed resolve, Team Abu Dhabi is aiming for a strong comeback in Lithuania to get their title defense back on track. The 2025 championship continues with four more rounds, including further races in Italy and concluding with a double-header finale in Portugal this October.

In the season opener, British driver Matthew Palfreyman took first place, followed by France’s Peter Morin and Sweden’s Wilmer Wiberg in second and third, respectively.

Rashed Al Qemzi remains a leading contender for the 2025 title, with an exceptional career that includes five world championships, solidifying his status as the most successful and favored driver on the grid.

Nasser Al Dhaheri, head of Team Abu Dhabi’s delegation, highlighted the significance of the upcoming round, describing it as a decisive moment in their title campaign. “We recognize the high level of competition in a championship with such prestige. Our aim is to retain the title and deliver performances that reflect the pride and reputation of the UAE,” he stated.
