Qatar’s economy grows 3.7% in Q1 2025

emirates7 - Qatar's economy recorded a real GDP growth of 3.7% in the first quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, according to the Qatar News Agency (QNA), citing the National Planning Council (NPC).

At constant prices, GDP reached QAR181.5 billion in Q1 2025, up from QAR175 billion in the first quarter of the previous year.

Figures released by the National Statistics Centre underscored progress in diversifying the economy, with the non-hydrocarbon sector contributing 63.6% to real GDP—equivalent to around QAR115 billion—up from 62.6% in Q1 2024.

The non-hydrocarbon economy expanded by 5.3% year-on-year, fueled by robust growth in key industries such as manufacturing (5.6%), construction (4.4%), real estate (7.0%), and wholesale and retail trade (14.6%).

While global economic uncertainties continue to pose risks, particularly in energy markets, Qatar's hydrocarbon sector still saw growth, accounting for 36.4% of real GDP—approximately QAR66 billion—with a 1.0% increase compared to the same period last year.
