Abdullah bin Zayed receives Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister

emirates7 - His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, welcomed Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, in Abu Dhabi during the 12th session of the UAE-Pakistan Joint Ministerial Commission.

During the session, the two ministers reviewed the strong bilateral ties between their nations and explored ways to enhance cooperation to support shared interests and boost prosperity for both peoples.

Following their discussions, Sheikh Abdullah and Mohammad Ishaq Dar signed the official minutes of the 12th Joint Ministerial Commission session.

They also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on mutual visa exemption, facilitating easier travel between the two countries. Additionally, both sides witnessed the signing of an MoU to establish a joint task force aimed at encouraging UAE investment in key sectors within Pakistan. This MoU was signed by UAE Minister of Investment Mohamed Hassan Al Suwaidi and Tariq Bajwa, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Another agreement signed during the session focused on cooperation in artificial intelligence and the digital economy. This agreement was formalized by Mohamed Hassan Al Suwaidi and Zarar Hashim Khan, Federal Secretary at Pakistan’s Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications.

The meeting was attended by several senior Emirati officials, including Mohamed Hassan Al Suwaidi, Minister of Investment; Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State; Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Assistant Foreign Minister for Economic and Trade Affairs; Omran Sharaf, Assistant Foreign Minister for Advanced Science and Technology; and Hamad Obaid Al Zaabi, UAE Ambassador to Pakistan.

Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh led the UAE delegation, while Tariq Bajwa headed the Pakistani delegation.

In his remarks, Al Sayegh emphasized the long-standing partnership between the UAE and Pakistan, which has evolved over decades of collaboration and shared vision. He expressed gratitude to Mohammad Ishaq Dar for his dedication to enhancing bilateral relations.

Al Sayegh underscored Pakistan’s status as a valued and enduring partner since the formalization of diplomatic ties in 1971. He highlighted that relations between the two countries remain strong, with non-oil trade exceeding US$8.6 billion in 2024. He concluded by reaffirming both countries’ commitment to a shared future grounded in trust, mutual respect, and sustainable development for future generations.
