emirates7 - The Sharjah Electricity, Water, and Gas Authority (SEWA) has officially opened the Basateen Al-Zubair power transmission station, which operates at 33/11 kilovolts and was built at a total cost of AED 23 million.
This project is part of SEWA’s ongoing efforts to upgrade and expand the emirate’s electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure. Engineer Hamad Al Tunaiji, Director of the Power Transmission Department, stated that the station supports SEWA’s strategic plan to strengthen the energy network and maintain a stable and sustainable electricity supply across Sharjah. The initiative is designed to meet growing population needs, support urban expansion, and accommodate future development.
The Power Transmission Department supervised the project, which includes three primary transformers with a capacity of 20 megavolt-amperes each, eight 33kV circuit breakers, twenty-seven 11kV circuit breakers, and a capacitor bank.
Now connected to the main grid, the station adheres to top-tier standards for quality, safety, and security. It also features smart systems to ensure optimal performance and reliable electricity delivery without interruptions.
