UAE Government launches Chief AI Officers’ Training Programme to enhance future tech leadership

emirates7 - The UAE Government, continuing its commitment to becoming a global leader in future technologies, has introduced the Chief AI Officers’ Training Programme.

Led by the Office of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, and in partnership with the University of Birmingham in Dubai, this programme aims to enhance the skills and capabilities of AI leaders within federal government bodies. Its goal is to ensure ongoing progress in adopting smart technologies and to strengthen the UAE’s leadership role in artificial intelligence worldwide.

Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications, emphasized that investing in leadership is crucial for building a sustainable, innovation-driven future.

“Equipping leaders with the necessary knowledge and tools fosters a culture of positive change, supports national ambitions, and empowers leaders to drive innovation and proactively shape future opportunities,” he said.

Al Olama also reaffirmed the UAE Government’s dedication to developing national talent and establishing a competitive, innovation-focused ecosystem grounded in technology and sustainable development, which are essential pillars supporting the UAE’s vision for global excellence.

The two-week executive training programme blends academic theory with hands-on experience. It provides Chief AI Officers with comprehensive insights into the latest AI developments, governance frameworks, and sector-specific uses, preparing them to lead transformative initiatives within their organizations.

The curriculum addresses ethical, regulatory, and technical aspects of AI, while promoting innovative thinking and strategic planning.

Delivered by internationally renowned experts and academics, the programme encourages interaction between UAE AI leaders and global specialists to share knowledge and best practices.

Participants undergo intensive sessions covering AI fundamentals and emerging trends, including governance, generative AI, machine learning, big data, and AI’s economic impact. The programme also examines practical AI applications in sectors such as healthcare, cybersecurity, energy, urban planning, government services, and entrepreneurship.

Chief AI Officers were appointed following the UAE Cabinet’s approval, under the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, to establish this role across federal ministries and government entities.

Candidates were selected based on their ability to navigate the fast-changing technological environment and their preparedness to integrate AI into government functions.

This initiative supports the objectives of the UAE Artificial Intelligence Strategy 2031 and the wider “We the UAE 2031” vision, which aims to position the UAE as a global leader in AI and digital transformation.
