emirates7 - The Dubai International Chamber, one of the three entities operating under Dubai Chambers, has officially opened its 36th international representative office in Bangkok, Thailand. This new office is set to play a strategic role in encouraging Thai businesses and investors to engage with Dubai, while also reinforcing the steadily expanding trade relationship between the two economies.
The Bangkok office aims to build stronger ties with both public and private sector stakeholders in Thailand. It will offer a full suite of services to support Thai companies, including access to market insights, business matchmaking, and guidance on how to enter the Dubai market. The initiative aligns with the broader goals of the Dubai Global strategy, which seeks to attract international companies, investors, and skilled professionals by promoting Dubai’s advantages and enhancing global connectivity.
Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, remarked that the Bangkok office marks a significant step in expanding Dubai’s international reach. He emphasized that the new office would help Thai businesses tap into Dubai’s strategic position as a gateway to global markets, fostering greater trade and investment flows. Lootah also highlighted Thailand’s importance as a partner in Dubai’s vision of becoming a leading hub for global commerce.
The office launch coincided with the “Doing Business with Thailand” forum, held in Bangkok as part of Dubai Chamber of Commerce’s “New Horizons” trade mission to Southeast Asia. The event drew more than 474 participants, including top officials, business executives, and Thai companies interested in forging ties with Dubai-based enterprises.
The trade mission brought together 20 companies from Dubai, representing industries such as food and beverages, HR, trading, electronics, hospitality, industrial lubricants, investment, and agriculture. In total, 288 one-on-one business meetings were facilitated between Dubai delegates and Thai firms.
This initiative builds upon the increasing trade relationship between Dubai and Thailand. In 2024, non-oil trade between the two reached over AED 23.8 billion, reflecting a robust annual growth of 23.3%. Additionally, the number of Thai businesses registered with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce grew by 28.4% to 190 by year-end, highlighting deepening commercial ties.
The Dubai Chamber of Commerce has identified key export opportunities from Dubai to Thailand in products such as livestock feed, fertilizers, flat-rolled iron or steel, unwrought aluminum alloys, and cosmetics. On the investment front, Thai sectors offering strong potential for Dubai-based businesses include rental and leasing services, renewable energy, logistics, and medical tourism.
