Sharjah confirms full containment of Al Hamriyah Port fire

emirates7 - The Local Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Management Team in Sharjah has announced that the fire that erupted at Al Hamriyah Port at 6:10 a.m. on Saturday has been fully contained. The blaze, which originated from the ignition of petrochemical materials, was brought under control through a swift and well-coordinated emergency response that demonstrated high levels of preparedness and precise execution across various agencies.

Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police and head of the local emergency team, confirmed that specialized teams successfully contained the fire by 6:25 a.m. on Sunday—within 24 hours of the initial outbreak. Cooling operations at the site are now underway.

He added that technical teams from forensic and laboratory units are working alongside relevant authorities to investigate the cause of the fire and evaluate the extent of the damage. The findings will be released after all necessary analyses are completed.

Major General bin Amer commended the professionalism and efficiency of the response teams, noting that their actions were guided by a clear operational plan focused on extinguishing the fire, securing the area, and isolating potential hazards.

Advanced equipment and support were deployed from various local and federal agencies, including the Ministry of Defense, Ministry of Interior, National Guard, NCEMA, civil defense departments across the UAE, the Joint Aviation Command, Sharjah and Hamriyah municipalities, the Sharjah Civil Aviation Department, Sharjah Airport Authority, and ADNOC. Their collective efforts were key in preventing the fire from spreading to nearby facilities.

He attributed the successful outcome primarily to divine grace, followed by the rapid and coordinated response, field expertise, and strong institutional collaboration. This incident, he noted, is a testament to Sharjah’s strategic readiness and reflects the UAE’s broader capability to manage emergencies with professionalism and resilience, in line with national emergency response protocols.
