emirates7 - The Arab Parliament for the Child (APC) participated in the 17th National Conference on Children’s Rights, hosted in the Kingdom of Morocco.
Leading the APC delegation was Secretary-General Ayman Othman Al Barout, who delivered a keynote address during the opening session. In his remarks, he extended greetings from the Parliament’s headquarters in Sharjah and commended the leadership of Morocco, under His Majesty King Mohammed VI, for its dedication to promoting children's rights amid evolving societal and technological landscapes.
Al Barout highlighted that today’s youth are increasingly aware and involved, positioning them as proactive contributors to sustainable development rather than passive beneficiaries. He advocated for the active involvement of children in all stages of policy-making—planning, implementation, and evaluation—through authentic platforms that allow them to voice their hopes and concerns.
He underscored the significance of the conference in tackling key issues such as child abuse—especially in digital spaces—climate change, digitalisation, mental health, inclusive education, and future-ready skills. These themes align closely with the APC’s ongoing efforts to prepare the next generation with the tools needed for the 21st century.
Al Barout also lauded Morocco’s delegation to the APC, calling it a “founding and exemplary group” noted for its strong engagement in parliamentary activities and consistent media visibility. He affirmed that the delegation represents Morocco with excellence.
The conference drew broad participation from government bodies, international and national experts, UN organisations, civil society groups, and young parliamentarians from across Morocco. Dialogues focused on developing a practical and forward-looking roadmap for child protection through 2030, mindful of environmental, technological, and social shifts.
