emirates7 - Ajman University (AU) recently hosted the 8th edition of its flagship Research Day, highlighting its dedication to innovation, sustainability, and supporting national development.
Organized annually by the Deanship of Research and Graduate Studies, the event gathered faculty members, undergraduate and postgraduate students, along with prominent representatives from both government and private sectors. The focus was on how applied research can contribute to the UAE’s long-term strategic goals.
Held at the Ajman Saray Hotel, the occasion showcased a range of interdisciplinary student research projects tackling real-world issues across fields such as urban planning, public health, technology, design, and behavioral science.
Notable projects included sustainable freshwater harvesting through condensation technology by students from the College of Engineering and IT. From the College of Architecture, Art, and Design, one study explored how walkable urban environments can improve quality of life, while another suggested creating sensory-friendly spaces for children with autism.
Students in Marketing and Management investigated green consumer behavior in the UAE, while research from the College of Law focused on privacy rights and legal frameworks in digital settings.
Medical students addressed issues around healthcare access and clinical practices, and researchers from Pharmacy and Health Sciences examined environmental risks and advancements in pharmaceuticals.
The College of Dentistry showcased innovations in oral healthcare, and students from Humanities, Social Sciences, and Mass Communication studied behavioral patterns, social attitudes, and media narratives. Together, these projects exemplify the extensive and impactful research environment at Ajman University, emphasizing relevance, rigor, and contributions to the nation.
Dr. Karim Seghir, Chancellor of Ajman University, emphasized, “Research forms a key pillar of our mission and is central to our vision of fostering a knowledge-based, innovation-driven economy. Through this event, we reaffirm our commitment to nurturing creative researchers who bridge theory and practice to generate socially meaningful knowledge.”
He added, “As a non-profit institution, we dedicate all resources to enhancing the research ecosystem, building academic infrastructure, and establishing impactful scientific partnerships aligned with national development priorities. Our research initiatives also align closely with the UAE Vision 2071 and national agendas focused on innovation, future technologies, and sustainability.”
