emirates7 - The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHESR) has teamed up with Etihad Airways to bolster the National Scholarship Programme. Through this partnership, scholarships will be offered in key disciplines, giving students a streamlined path to careers within one of the UAE’s premier aviation companies.
This initiative represents another step in MoHESR’s broader efforts to strengthen scholarship offerings by collaborating with top-tier public and private sector organisations. The partnership will allow Emirati students to study at leading international universities in specific, high-priority fields.
Together, MoHESR and Etihad Airways will determine the target universities, countries, and areas of study, as well as establish the selection criteria for the scholarships. In addition to academic opportunities, students will benefit from vocational training and career mentorship to prepare them for future roles at Etihad in sectors like aviation, engineering, and logistics.
Ahmad Ibrahim Alsaadi, Acting Assistant Undersecretary for the Higher Education Operations Sector and Director of the International Education Support and Scholarships Department at MoHESR, stated, “We are constantly working to improve our programmes to cultivate a skilled national workforce that can contribute to the UAE’s development. Partnering with Etihad Airways demonstrates our dedication to aligning educational initiatives with the country’s economic priorities. This collaboration showcases the power of public-private partnerships in creating an educational framework that prepares students for future job markets and equips them to contribute to vital sectors of the economy.”
Dr. Nadia Bastaki, Chief People, Government, and Corporate Affairs Officer at Etihad Airways, commented, “We are committed to supporting the growth of Emirati talent. Our collaboration with MoHESR reflects our mutual goal of linking education with real-world industry demands. By combining academic learning with practical experience, we’re helping students become future leaders in aviation and enhancing the UAE’s global competitiveness.”
MoHESR will monitor the academic progress of scholarship recipients and handle exceptional cases, while Etihad Airways will provide hands-on training, mentorship, and ongoing support. The airline will also take part in evaluating student performance and will structured career development plans that include training before and after graduation.
The partnership further includes post-graduation follow-up, with data sharing and feedback mechanisms to measure the programme’s effectiveness and identify opportunities for future improvements.
