emirates7 - The UAE National Jiu-Jitsu Team, backed by Mubadala Investment Company, continued its impressive run at the 9th Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Amman, Jordan, claiming first place in the adult division standings.

Building on a stellar showing in the women’s division on Day 2, the team added five more medals to its tally—two gold, one silver, and two bronze—bringing the total medal count to 12 and strengthening its lead in the overall adult rankings.

The UAE’s female athletes competed with determination and skill, delivering world-class performances against top-tier opponents from across Asia. Aysha Alshamsi (45kg) and Shamma Al Kalbani (63kg) each captured gold medals, while Mariam Al Ali earned silver (45kg), and Hamda Alshkeili (48kg) and Asma Al Hosani (52kg) secured bronze.

Mubarak Saleh Al Menhali, Director of the Technical Department at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, praised the team’s efforts, attributing the success to months of focused preparation and training.

“Our women’s team displayed exceptional skill and composure, proving that our athletes are among the continent’s elite and capable of performing on the world stage. These accomplishments are the result of long-term planning, unwavering support from our leadership, and a federation strategy rooted in empowerment and excellence,” he said.

Gold medallist Shamma Al Kalbani (63kg) expressed the emotional significance of her win: “This victory is deeply meaningful to me. It reflects the hard work, consistent training, and mental focus I’ve maintained throughout. Hearing the UAE national anthem while standing on the podium was incredibly powerful—it reminded me of the purpose and pride behind each match. I am proud to represent my country and will continue striving for greater achievements.”

Aysha Alshamsi, who secured gold in the 45kg division, emphasized the importance of preparation: “Being on the podium and watching the UAE flag being raised filled me with an immense sense of pride. It’s a moment I’ll never forget.”

The UAE team’s participation wraps up on Monday with the Under-21 division, where they aim to add more medals and solidify their dominance at the championship.
