emirates7 - The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has issued a reminder for all Hajj travellers to ensure they receive the necessary vaccinations and have them documented on their International Vaccination Cards before departing.
According to the Ministry, two vaccinations are mandatory for all pilgrims: the meningococcal vaccine and the seasonal influenza vaccine. These must be administered at least 10 days before travel to provide sufficient time for immunity development. Both vaccines are available at public and private healthcare centres across the UAE.
Additionally, MoHAP recommends optional vaccines, including the pneumococcal and COVID-19 vaccines, especially for individuals aged 65 and older or those with chronic medical conditions.
The Ministry also highlighted several important health and safety measures for pilgrims. These include consulting a healthcare provider before travelling, carrying enough prescription medication in its original packaging, and having a detailed medical report outlining the pilgrim’s health status and medication regimen.
To further support pilgrims, Emirates Health Services (EHS) has introduced a special online system for booking Hajj-related medical check-ups and vaccinations. Appointments can be made via the EHS mobile app or by calling 800 8877.
Meanwhile, the UAE’s official Hajj delegation has begun preparations in Mecca to receive the first groups of pilgrims arriving through King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. The team is working to complete all necessary administrative and medical arrangements to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for the pilgrims.
The delegation has also inspected housing facilities in Mina and Arafat to verify they meet the standards set by the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments. This year, 6,228 Emiratis are expected to perform Hajj, including 5,648 making the pilgrimage for the first time.
As part of these efforts, 6,500 Qur’ans, Hajj guides, maps, prayer booklets, and crossbody bags have been distributed. A cooperation agreement has also been signed with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to streamline entry and exit procedures and to maintain high-quality service throughout the pilgrimage.
