emirates7 - In 2024, the Sharjah Entrepreneurship Foundation “Ruwad,” part of the Sharjah Department of Economic Development, trained 1,414 Emirati entrepreneurs through its professional diploma and training programmes.
This initiative is part of Ruwad’s annual strategy to equip SME project owners across Sharjah with the necessary skills to launch and manage their businesses effectively.
Fatima Al Ali, Acting Director of Ruwad, highlighted that the foundation is executing a series of ambitious training initiatives aimed at nurturing Emirati entrepreneurial talent. These programmes are designed to valuable opportunities for entrepreneurs, helping them succeed in various sectors and strengthening Sharjah’s position as a leading hub for national entrepreneurs.
Al Ali emphasized that Ruwad’s training and diploma offerings cover key areas such as administration, finance, marketing, and legal affairs. The programmes blend theoretical learning with practical experience, ensuring participants gain both knowledge and applicable skills.
She also noted that Ruwad has developed strong partnerships with universities, academic centers, and specialized entrepreneurship institutions to deliver advanced training using modern technology and tools.
The workshops and training sessions explored a diverse range of subjects—from general business skills and management to niche topics such as starting small businesses, SME financial accounting, and tax compliance. The curriculum also included mini-MBA programmes, specialized diplomas, introductory workshops, and knowledge enhancement sessions.
Al Ali expressed pride in Ruwad’s efforts to empower a wide spectrum of individuals interested in entrepreneurship, including current and aspiring business owners, students, government employees, retirees, and home business license holders under the Etimad and Masar categories.
Amina Mohammed, Director of the Training, Research, and Events Department, reported that by the end of 2024, Ruwad had delivered a total of 395 training and diploma programmes since its inception. These accounted for 3,555 training hours across 1,139 training days and involved 9,724 participants in total.
