emirates7 - The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) has achieved a significant milestone by becoming a "Contributing Member" of the International Corrections and Prisons Association (ICPA), making it the first institution in the Middle East to receive this distinguished international recognition.

This accomplishment represents a major step forward in enhancing global cooperation and building a comprehensive and integrated operational environment. It also contributes to the establishment of a justice system rooted in transparency, innovation, and fairness.

Counsellor Yousef Saeed Al Abri, Undersecretary of ADJD, stated that the department’s membership in the ICPA reflects its dedication to implementing the most advanced developmental policies and adhering to top-tier professional and technological standards in the administration of correctional and rehabilitation institutions.

He highlighted that this initiative supports the vision of the UAE’s leadership, which aims to a modern and sustainable reform model that reinforces Abu Dhabi’s reputation as a global leader in progressive justice systems grounded in human dignity and innovation.

Al Abri also noted that joining the ICPA grants access to cutting-edge technologies, systems, strategies, and global best practices in correctional facility management. It enables continuous learning from international experiences and strengthens the role of public-private partnerships in the sector.

He concluded by reiterating the department’s ongoing efforts to elevate the correctional and rehabilitation framework, ensuring that services are delivered according to the highest standards of inmate care, reform, and reintegration.
