emirates7 - VFS Global, a leading provider of trusted technology services for secure international mobility, has announced the opening of its flagship Visa Application Centre in Wafi City, Dubai — now the largest facility of its kind globally.
The centre was officially inaugurated by Helal Saeed Almarri, Director-General of Dubai's Department of Economy and Tourism; Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director-General of the General Directorate of Identity and Foreigners Affairs – Dubai; and Zubin Karkaria, Founder and CEO of VFS Global Group.
Commenting on the launch, Helal Saeed Almarri emphasized that this development is more than just a physical expansion — it signifies Dubai’s strategic vision to enhance international connectivity, broaden access to opportunities, and drive forward its economic and tourism growth. He noted that facilitating visa processes plays a critical role in attracting global talent, boosting tourism, and fostering international collaborations, all of which are key pillars of the Dubai Economic Agenda D33 and the city’s ambition to become the world’s most interconnected and future-focused destination.
Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri highlighted the event as a testament to Dubai and the UAE’s continued pursuit of excellence and innovation. He described the new centre as a tangible outcome of the leadership's vision to position the UAE as a global benchmark for smart, efficient, and high-quality government services.
Zubin Karkaria reflected on VFS Global’s two-decade journey in the UAE since 2004, describing it as a story of strong commitment and synergy with the country’s forward-thinking leadership. He celebrated the opening of the centre as a landmark achievement that aligns with Dubai’s rapid progress and its role as a global hub for business, innovation, and technology. The facility will cater to applicants from over 200 nationalities.
Spanning nearly 150,000 square feet, the centre boasts the capacity to process up to 10,000 visa applications per day — the highest volume at a single location worldwide. It is staffed by more than 400 trained professionals representing over 25 different nationalities.
