emirates7 - The Endowments and Minors Funds Authority (Awqaf Abu Dhabi), in partnership with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, has launched the Life Endowment campaign to support patients with chronic diseases under the slogan "With you for Life."
This initiative promotes generosity and solidarity, reflecting the spirit of the Year of Community, which was launched by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
The campaign’s goal is to enhance the sustainability of healthcare services and help cover treatment costs for society’s most vulnerable groups. It is part of a broader Healthcare Endowment launched by both entities in May 2024, valued at AED 1 billion.
The campaign seeks to provide continuous, sustainable funding to support treatment for chronic diseases among those in need and to strengthen the healthcare system’s ability to meet future challenges.
Funds raised will be invested to generate returns that will cover treatment expenses, provide essential medications, and offer mental health support for chronic disease patients.
The aim is to use these funds to improve quality of life and promote public health, contributing to building a healthier, more sustainable society.
The initiative also emphasizes the importance of endowments (waqf) as tools for sustainability and community development, highlighting the UAE’s leadership in charitable and humanitarian efforts as well as social investment to help those in need.
Fahad Abdulqader Al Qassim, Director-General of Awqaf Abu Dhabi, stressed the vital role endowments play in community development, especially in supporting key sectors like healthcare.
He stated, “We will manage these contributions by investing them wisely, preserving their value, and ensuring their sustainability to expand our initiatives and maximize their social impact.”
He added that the campaign offers new hope to chronic disease patients and plays an important role in providing quality healthcare for those unable to afford treatment, encouraging everyone to participate actively.
Dr. Noura Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, described the campaign as a sustainable model to deliver care to those most in need, reinforcing community partnership and social solidarity values.
She emphasized that the Department will continue to oversee the healthcare aspects of the endowment to ensure funds are effectively allocated to specialized care and reach the most deserving patients.
The campaign features two main fundraising partners: Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), a leading humanitarian organization since 1983 dedicated to assisting vulnerable populations locally and internationally; and the Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an, Abu Dhabi’s official government channel for receiving social contributions to support various sectors and promote community development.
Ahmed Sari Al Mazrouei, ERC Secretary-General, explained that the partnership with the Life Endowment campaign reflects the organization’s belief in the need for sustainable community funding in healthcare, especially for costly treatments that individuals cannot afford alone.
He noted that community support can greatly reduce the financial burden on disadvantaged patients and provide hope for their recovery.
Abdullah Hamid Al Ameri, Director-General of Ma’an, highlighted that this partnership aims to encourage shared responsibility and community giving to support the health campaign. He said that healthcare is one of the key sectors Ma’an supports by channeling contributions to initiatives addressing Abu Dhabi’s social priorities.
