China releases plan to boost digital development

emirates7 - China has unveiled its 2025 action plan for building a Digital China, highlighting key initiatives in areas such as "AI Plus," digital infrastructure enhancement, the data economy, and cultivating digital talent, according to the National Data Administration on Friday.

As reported by People’s Daily Online, the plan emphasizes advancing market-oriented reforms in data resource allocation, accelerating the establishment of a unified national data market, fostering a data-driven digital economy suited to regional characteristics, and comprehensively elevating the development level of Digital China.

By the end of 2025, China aims to make significant strides in constructing its digital framework, including expanding high-quality productivity in the digital sector and boosting the quality and efficiency of digital economic growth.

The plan sets a target for core digital economy industries to contribute over 10% of the country's GDP. It also outlines goals for solid progress in forming a unified data factor market and enhancing national computing power to exceed 300 EFLOPS.

In the first quarter of this year, China's digital industry achieved revenues of 8.5 trillion yuan (approximately US$1.18 trillion), marking a 9.4% increase from the previous year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
