Fifth round of 32nd UAE President’s Cup Series for Purebred Arabian Horses starts in Rome

emirates7 - Under the guidance and directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan—Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court—the fifth leg of the 32nd UAE President’s Cup Series for Purebred Arabian Horses kicked off today at the iconic Capannelle Racecourse in Rome, Italy.

This round is part of the international racing circuit dedicated to Purebred Arabian horses and underscores ongoing efforts to preserve and elevate the sport. It aims to motivate breeders and owners worldwide to continue nurturing Arabian horses, boosting their presence on prestigious racetracks across the globe.

The Italian stage promises an exciting and competitive European showcase, featuring 16 elite horses from leading Arabian stables throughout Italy and Europe. The race covers a distance of 2,000 meters on turf, is designated as a Group 2 event, and offers a prize purse of €300,000.

Topping the list of contenders is SHM Al Shaheen (by Al Mourtajez out of Al Shayhaneh bint Munjiz), a standout entry from the UAE. The horse is owned by Hilal Al Alawi, trained by Elizabeth Bernard Jean Francois, and will be ridden by Cristian Demuro. SHM Al Shaheen is highly anticipated to perform well, thanks to his distinguished lineage and recent strong performances.

Also in the lineup is Afjan (by TM Fred Texas out of Mozon by Amer), a formidable runner representing Al Shaqab Racing, among other strong challengers.
