emirates7 - The UAE Cybersecurity Council announced on Saturday the country’s first national guidelines for drone operations.
Officials highlighted that with the rising use of drones across sectors like agriculture, environmental monitoring, and logistics, it has become essential to establish clear operational protocols to proactively tackle potential cyber threats and safeguard airspace, infrastructure, and data integrity.
This initiative is part of a strategic partnership between the Cybersecurity Council and Digital Reach, a provider of cybersecurity and digital transformation solutions under the Reach Group umbrella. The collaboration also involves Shieldworkz, a cybersecurity firm specializing in protecting operational systems, the Internet of Things (IoT), and drones.
Dr. Mohammed Al Kuwaiti, Chairman of the UAE Government Cybersecurity Council, stated that these national guidelines demonstrate the UAE’s leadership and proactive stance in securing the digital environment.
Malek Melhem, CEO of Reach Group, emphasized the group’s dedication to reinforcing the UAE’s digital and cybersecurity infrastructure.
Mohamed Khaled, Vice President of Growth and Corporate Transformation at Reach Group, noted that this initiative fosters safe innovation in drone technology while addressing the increasing cyber risks that threaten national airspace and infrastructure.
