8th Historic Dalma Race Festival features rich cultural legacy

emirates7 - The 8th edition of the Historic Dalma Race Festival officially began today on Dalma Island, situated in Abu Dhabi’s Al Dhafra Region.

Organised by the Abu Dhabi Heritage Authority in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Marine Sports Club and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, the festival will continue through to 1 June 2025.

Held every weekend—Friday through Sunday—the festival offers a wide range of activities designed to engage diverse audiences, enhance tourism, stimulate the local economy, and foster a vibrant cultural and social environment for families and visitors alike.

A key attraction is the heritage market, which will feature traditional Emirati shops selling local crafts and authentic cuisine. There will also be special zones for children, live theatre shows, and daily contests. Demonstrations of traditional handcrafts will offer insight into the UAE’s rich cultural traditions, passed down through generations.

The Dalma Historic Race Festival is dedicated to preserving the UAE’s maritime heritage, reinforcing national identity, and instilling historical values in younger generations. It aims to raise public awareness—among citizens, residents, and tourists—about the cultural significance of Emirati islands, support local artisans and families, drive economic growth on Dalma Island, and cement the festival’s reputation as a premier destination for heritage tourism and sports in Abu Dhabi.
