emirates7 - Following the directives of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to deliver medical treatment and healthcare for 1,000 wounded Palestinian children and 1,000 cancer patients from Gaza in UAE hospitals, the UAE, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), has carried out its latest medical evacuation flight. This operation, conducted through Ramon Airport in Israel and the Karam Abu Salam crossing, transported 101 injured individuals along with 87 accompanying family members. To date, a total of 2,630 patients and relatives have been brought to the UAE, underscoring the nation's firm dedication to offering medical support to Palestinians in need.
Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development and International Organisations and Vice Chairman of the UAE Aid Coordination Office, emphasized that this initiative, launched by President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, reaffirms the UAE’s enduring solidarity with the Palestinian people and its compassion for the residents of Gaza amid the ongoing crisis. He noted that these humanitarian measures are intended to ease the suffering of Gaza’s population, particularly vulnerable groups such as children, women, and the elderly.
Al Shamsi reiterated that the UAE remains fully committed to assisting Palestinians through comprehensive relief initiatives by land, sea, and air. He stressed the country's active cooperation with the United Nations and other international partners to strengthen efforts aimed at addressing the humanitarian disaster in Gaza, ensuring that aid is delivered quickly, safely, without obstruction, and on a sustainable basis.
He further pointed out that the UAE is one of the foremost contributors of aid to Gaza, having delivered over 40% of all assistance provided since the crisis began in October 2023.
Al Shamsi also affirmed that the UAE’s ongoing medical evacuation operations reflect its dedication to providing high-quality healthcare to injured Palestinians and supporting global humanitarian efforts in times of crisis. He confirmed that the UAE will continue to take all necessary measures to aid the people of Gaza, including efforts to evacuate patients and ensure they receive proper treatment.
Additionally, he highlighted that since the beginning of the crisis, the UAE has been proactive in delivering healthcare through its field hospital in southern Gaza and the hospital ship stationed at Al-Arish Port. The UAE has carried out a large-scale humanitarian response, delivering over 65,000 tonnes of aid, including food, medical, and relief supplies, to support the Palestinian people during this critical time.
