emirates7 - His Highness Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports, and Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group; and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum were among the dignitaries present at the fourth edition of the World Police Summit, held on Tuesday at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

The event takes place under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.

The opening ceremony welcomed a distinguished gathering of global police leaders, international specialists, and influential figures from the security sector, who came together to tackle global security issues and share leading practices.

Organised by Dubai Police in collaboration with DXB Live, the three-day summit is themed “Envisioning the Future of Policing” and features over 300 speakers and experts from across the globe. Delegates represent more than 100 countries, numerous law enforcement bodies, and over 200 companies specialising in security and technology.

In his opening remarks, Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police, extended a warm welcome to participants and expressed pride in hosting the summit. He spoke about the growing dangers of cross-border crime and the expanding threat of cybercrime, citing artificial intelligence-driven scams, activities on the dark web, and digital fraud as key concerns. He referred to INTERPOL data showing that over 100 billion stolen personal and financial records were traded on the dark web in 2024—a 42% increase from the year before. Additionally, ransomware was responsible for about 25% of global cyber insurance claims.

Al Marri highlighted Dubai Police’s commitment to innovation in policing and global collaboration, referencing initiatives such as the International Anti-Narcotics Forum, the Anti-Fraud Forum, the UAE SWAT Challenge, and the Police Innovation and Leadership (PIL) Diploma. These programs have drawn participation from 110 countries, reflecting the UAE’s growing role in international security cooperation.

He concluded by emphasizing that community safety requires collective international effort and expressed confidence that the summit would lead to practical strategies for a more secure and prosperous world.

A short film followed his speech, showcasing highlights from the sixth edition of the UAE SWAT Challenge, which achieved a Guinness World Record for the highest number of participating nations in a tactical event, with over 100 teams competing.

Keynote speaker John Romero, the acclaimed video game designer and co-creator of Doom, addressed the summit on cybercrime’s impact on the gaming industry. He revealed that game-related cheating and hacking result in estimated losses of US$29 billion annually. In response, companies have invested approximately $13.5 billion in anti-cheat technologies, while illegal markets generate about $50 million in illicit revenue.

Romero described how hackers manipulate game systems with tools like auto-aim and speed modifications. He explained that developers now use artificial intelligence and behavioral analytics to detect suspicious activity and protect gaming platforms. He underscored that the same advanced technologies misused by hackers are being employed by developers to uphold fairness and safety in digital environments.

After the keynote, Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan officially opened the summit’s exhibition, which features state-of-the-art solutions across various fields, including cybercrime detection, forensic science, AI, airport and drone security, smart mobility, narcotics control, and digital policing preparedness.

The summit continues over the next two days, featuring strategic discussions, workshops, and networking opportunities aimed at advancing the future of policing and reinforcing global security collaboration.
