emirates7 - Mike Hesson, the former coach of New Zealand, will assume control of Pakistan's limited-overs teams starting May 26, according to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
Hesson, who guided New Zealand to the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup final during his six-year tenure as head coach, has also had coaching stints with Kenya and the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League.
At present, Hesson serves as the head coach for Islamabad United, the defending champions of the Pakistan Super League.
PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi expressed confidence in Hesson's vast international experience and his proven ability to develop competitive teams, stating that they are excited for his leadership in shaping the future of Pakistan’s white-ball cricket.
Hesson replaces Aqib Javed, who had been appointed interim coach in November following Gary Kirsten's resignation, just months after he took on the role. Javed, who also stepped in as the interim coach for Pakistan's red-ball team after Jason Gillespie's resignation in December, has been reassigned to the position of Director of High Performance. The PCB has not yet announced who will take over as the full-time Test coach.
