Honeywell announces new gas detector production line at Masdar Innovation Centre

emirates7 - Honeywell has announced the launch of a new gas detector assembly line at the Masdar Innovation Centre in Abu Dhabi, marking a significant step in supporting the UAE’s industrial and localisation goals. This new assembly line enhances the UAE’s status as a hub for advanced industrial technology and supports the country’s ‘Make it in the Emirates’ initiative by expanding local manufacturing, promoting technology transfer, and contributing to long-term in-country value.

The assembly line will focus on Honeywell's RAEGuard 3 Series – fixed gas detectors for toxic and flammable gases, featuring advanced sensor technology – as well as the BW Clip Series of portable, single-gas detectors. These next-generation gas detectors are designed to safeguard industrial workers in potentially hazardous environments and will cater to local and regional customers.

Honeywell, with a presence in the UAE for over 70 years, continues to contribute to the country’s economic transformation. The new assembly line strengthens Honeywell’s commitment to fostering high-value job creation, developing local talent, and providing smart, sustainable technologies. This aligns with the UAE's Operation 300Bn initiative, aimed at boosting the industrial sector’s contribution to GDP from AED133 billion to AED300 billion by 2031.

“Honeywell has been a long-time partner of the UAE, dedicated to empowering local industries and supporting economic diversification,” said George Bou Mitri, President of Honeywell Industrial Automation for the Middle East, Turkey, Africa, and Central Asia. “The new gas detector assembly line is not just an expansion of our manufacturing presence, but a significant step toward creating a smarter, safer, and more sustainable industrial future for the UAE.”

The Masdar Innovation Centre, which Honeywell opened in 2019 in Abu Dhabi’s Masdar City, focuses on in-country assembly, integration, and testing of advanced automation technologies. The facility enables faster delivery, local customization, and technical support for clients across the UAE and the broader Middle East region. In recognition of its achievements, the Masdar facility received top marks in the UAE’s Industrial Technology Transformation Index (ITTI) and Honeywell was named a UAE Industry 4.0 Leader by the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology last year.
