DEWA announces record quarterly revenue of AED5.96 billion

emirates7 - Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA), listed on the Dubai Financial Market (DFM), announced its consolidated financial results for Q1 2025, reporting revenue of AED 5.96 billion.

The company recorded AED 2.43 billion in EBITDA, an operating profit of AED 838 million, and a net profit of AED 496 million. Net cash generated from operations reached a record AED 3.85 billion, increasing DEWA’s cash and cash equivalents to AED 8.17 billion—AED 2.07 billion more than at the end of 2024.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman and MD & CEO of DEWA, emphasized the company’s alignment with the vision of Dubai’s leadership, particularly in its commitment to sustainability and the Net Zero 2050 strategy. He noted that DEWA continues to contribute significantly to Dubai’s development and energy transition goals.

Al Tayer highlighted that rising demand for electricity, water, and cooling led to a 2.83% year-on-year revenue growth for the quarter, with net operational cash flow rising 17.86% compared to Q1 2024. He also pointed to robust financial performance, including AED 838 million in operating profit and AED 2.43 billion in EBITDA. DEWA invested AED 2.26 billion during the quarter, primarily supporting its energy transition initiatives. By 2030, DEWA anticipates reaching a total installed capacity of 22 GW, with 7.5 GW—34% of the mix—sourced from clean energy, up from its previous target of 25%.

In Q1 2025, DEWA achieved a record power generation of 10.50 TWh, a 2.83% increase from the same period in 2024. Clean energy accounted for 1.86 TWh, or 17.7% of total power generation. Desalinated water output also hit a record 35.61 billion imperial gallons (BIG), marking a 4.56% year-on-year rise. The customer base expanded by 11,614 new accounts during the quarter, contributing to an annual increase of 57,339 accounts—3.7% growth over the past year.

As of the end of the quarter, DEWA's installed generation capacity reached 17,579 MW, with 3,460 MW—20% of the total—coming from clean energy sources. Looking ahead, DEWA plans to add 240 million imperial gallons per day (MIGD) in seawater reverse osmosis desalination capacity by 2030, aiming to bring the total to 735 MIGD.

Additionally, DEWA commissioned two 132kV substations and 441 substations in the 11-6.6kV range during the quarter.
