Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work reviews digital transformation plan

emirates7 - The Board of Trustees of the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work (SAVW), led by Ahmed Ibrahim Al Mail—Chairman of the Sharjah Social Services Department and the Board of Trustees—convened for its regular meeting to discuss strategic developments aimed at advancing the award and expanding its societal influence.

During the session, the Board approved a newly introduced indicators programme featuring 80 specific performance metrics. This initiative is designed to boost operational efficiency and raise standards, reflecting the award’s dedication to transparency and professional excellence in fulfilling its mission.

The Board also examined the financial returns from endowments dedicated to supporting SAVW’s programmes and activities, emphasizing the importance of sustainable investment to reinforce the award’s leadership in promoting volunteerism and social responsibility.

In line with ongoing progress, the Board reviewed major achievements and updates, including a digital transformation strategy intended to streamline processes and bolster future efforts to foster volunteerism and realize the award’s vision of becoming a key platform for encouraging community engagement and innovative volunteer initiatives.

Chairman Ahmed Ibrahim Al Mail expressed gratitude for the steadfast support and wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, and H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince, Deputy Ruler, and Chairman of the Executive Council.

Al Mail highlighted that the adoption of both the performance indicators programme and the digital transformation plan marks a significant milestone in the award’s development, helping to cultivate a culture of generosity and innovation, while motivating individuals and organizations to launch volunteer initiatives that contribute to sustainable development and community unity.

He reiterated that SAVW is advancing its leadership role by implementing forward-thinking tools and programmes that support impactful volunteer work and reinforce the award’s mission to serve society.

Dr. Jassim Al Hammadi, Secretary-General of SAVW, stressed the award's continuous efforts to embed the spirit of volunteerism across all sectors, positioning it as a platform for creativity and community service that elevates the profile of volunteer efforts in Sharjah.

Fatima Musa Al Belushi, SAVW’s Executive Director, shared that the meeting also reviewed the award’s 2024 outcomes, celebrating key milestones and accomplishments. She noted that over 22 years and 21 editions, the award has recognized 1,259 winners from both individuals and institutions across various categories.

She further reported that the 21st edition, reflecting achievements from 2023, yielded notable results: 125,389 volunteer hours logged by 3,038 volunteers across 45 opportunities, with total financial contributions reaching AED47,033.

Al Belushi highlighted the award’s significant progress, especially the expansion to 14 diverse categories aimed at engaging a wide range of community segments, enhancing both inclusiveness and reach.

She also emphasized the award’s strong focus on community education, with 76 awareness sessions conducted and a range of specialized publications produced to promote the culture of volunteering.
