emirates7 - The “Abu Dhabi Extreme” organisation has announced that the 10th edition of its prestigious global Jiu-Jitsu and Grappling Championship will be held in Moscow, Russia, for the first time on 31st May. This move aligns with the organisation’s broader strategy to expand its international footprint.
The championship will be hosted at the “Dynamo” arena and is designed to boost the tournament’s presence in Russia and Central Asia. It will showcase elite athletes from across the region—including Russia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan—alongside leading Brazilian professionals from the global Jiu-Jitsu circuit.
According to Abu Dhabi Extreme, Moscow was selected due to Russia’s deep-rooted legacy in combat and wrestling sports, having produced legendary fighters such as Khabib Nurmagomedov. The organisation hopes this new venue will help discover emerging talent and encourage wider engagement with the sport.
Tariq Al Bahri, General Manager of International Vision Sports Management (IVSM), remarked that this edition features a carefully curated lineup of top-ranked fighters. The match card promises first-time clashes between champions in Jiu-Jitsu, Grappling, and MMA. He anticipates a strong turnout, highlighting the Russian audience’s deep enthusiasm for combat sports.
Al Bahri also described this edition as a pivotal moment in the tournament’s evolution, offering high-calibre matchups and exemplifying the organisation’s mission to elevate and globalise these disciplines.
The previous, 9th edition of the Abu Dhabi Extreme Championship took place in Paris last April, drawing substantial crowds and international media attention. It featured thrilling performances by top-tier athletes, further solidifying the event’s status as a premier global competition in the world of Jiu-Jitsu and Grappling.
