UAE hosts Regional Workshop for Directors of Maritime Administrations

emirates7 - The UAE, through its Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI), in partnership with the International Maritime Organisation (IMO), recently organized the Regional Workshop for Directors of Maritime Administrations. This event forms part of the preparations for the upcoming IMO member state audit programme.

During the workshop, participants exchanged insights on best practices for adhering to maritime conventions and agreements, and explored strategies to enhance the performance of maritime administrations. These efforts aim to strengthen marine safety and environmental stewardship.

Key topics included boosting member countries' preparedness for the audit by detailing the technical and administrative requirements, sharing successful case studies, and providing guidance on navigating the audit process and addressing potential feedback.

Eng. Hessa Al Malek, Advisor to the Minister for Maritime Transport Affairs at MoEI, stated that hosting the workshop underlines the UAE’s prominent role as a global maritime hub and its strong commitment to IMO’s goals for maritime safety and sustainability. She emphasized the country’s dedication to fostering international collaboration among IMO members.

Al Malek wrapped up the workshop by offering actionable recommendations to improve the UAE’s readiness for the audit and stressed the importance of sustained cooperation among IMO member states to collectively advance a safer, more sustainable maritime industry.
