Korea adds nearly 200,000 jobs in March

emirates7 - South Korea added close to 200,000 jobs in March, though employment in the construction and manufacturing industries continued to shrink, according to data released Wednesday.

Citing figures from Statistics Korea, Yonhap News Agency reported that the number of employed individuals reached 28.59 million last month, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 193,000.

This follows a net gain of 135,000 jobs in January, which came after a of 52,000 in December. February saw an additional 136,000 jobs created.

Despite the overall growth, the construction sector experienced a decline of 185,000 jobs compared to the same month last year, continuing a downward trend for the 11th straight month.

Meanwhile, the public health and social welfare sector added 212,000 jobs, with employment in public administration and finance rising by 87,000 and 65,000, respectively.
