National Bonds’ investment portfolio surges to AED15.8 billion with 22% growth in 2024

emirates7 - By the end of 2024, Sukuk holder investments in National Bonds reached a record AED 15.8 billion (US$4.2 billion), marking a 22 percent growth compared to AED 12.9 billion at the end of 2023.

National Bonds attributed this growth to an increasing number of regular savers and the adoption of digital solutions. The company distributed approximately AED 588 million in returns to Sukuk holders in 2024, with some savers earning returns as high as 4.75 percent, while the overall average return rate was 4.02 percent.

The results also showed a 51 percent increase in the number of regular savers, reflecting the growing demand for structured savings plans in alignment with the UAE's vision for enhanced financial well-being. The upgrade of its mobile application last year contributed to a 41 percent increase in digital savings.

National Bonds also introduced end-of-service benefits programs in 2024, in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE), with plans to launch the program this year.

Mohammed Qasim Al Ali, Group CEO, emphasized that the company takes a proactive approach to understanding emerging trends and customer needs. He highlighted that National Bonds' growth, including a 22 percent increase in its investment portfolio and a 51 percent rise in regular savers, reflects customer confidence in its offerings. The company focuses on building a future-ready savings ecosystem, addressing both financial needs and the psychological barriers to saving.

Al Ali also mentioned the company's low-to-medium risk strategy for capital protection. With rising interest rates, National Bonds increased its bank deposits to 20 percent in 2024. The investment portfolio includes 30-40 percent in fixed-income assets, 10-12 percent in listed equities, 8 percent in private equity, and 20 percent in real estate investments. The company’s annual rewards program, worth AED 36 million, helps inspire a culture of disciplined saving.
