National Media Office stresses importance of adhering to national values, policies on social media

emirates7 - The National Media Office (NMO) has emphasized the importance of UAE social media users adhering to national values such as respect, tolerance, and coexistence. The office issued an official statement urging users to follow ethical and legal standards on digital platforms, stressing the prohibition of content that disrespects national symbols, public figures, or friendly nations and their communities.

The NMO, in collaboration with relevant authorities, announced its intention to take legal action against individuals who violate these standards, in line with UAE laws designed to ensure a safe and respectful digital environment. The statement also warned that sharing misleading information, hate speech, or defamatory content is illegal and will result in severe penalties.

Additionally, the office reminded citizens that they are responsible for upholding the UAE’s reputation, a sentiment expressed by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He urged individuals to represent the country positively, noting that their actions—whether good or bad—reflect their Emirati identity.

The NMO urged social media users to act responsibly when posting or sharing content and reiterated its commitment to working with relevant authorities to monitor violations. It also encouraged people to report inappropriate or non-compliant content to help maintain a responsible digital space.

The office called on social media users to mirror the moral values set by the UAE leadership, which exemplifies humility and high ethical standards. It further highlighted the social media principles outlined by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, which include embodying the wisdom of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, avoiding offensive language, promoting constructive dialogue, and engaging positively with diverse cultures and ideas.
