emirates7 - Louvre Abu Dhabi invites families and film lovers to experience the connection between art and cinema through Art in Motion, a series of free film screenings inspired by artworks from the museum's collection.
Taking place every Saturday from 25 July to 22 August 2026, Art in Motion invites audiences to discover a selection of handpicked family films inspired by fascinating objects from Louvre Abu Dhabi's collection. Pairing classic cinema with art history, the programme explores how storytelling, creativity and cultural heritage resonate across different artistic expressions.
Hosted in the museum's auditorium, the screenings offer a unique extension of the museum experience, inviting visitors to engage with artworks through the lens of storytelling while enjoying some of the most celebrated family films ever created.

25 July – Aladdin (1992)
Inspired by the Medallion Carpet, Aladdin reflects the splendour, ornament, and storytelling traditions of the Islamic world. In this animated classic, a street thief discovers a magical lamp and transforms his fate.

1 August – Wall-E (2008)
Selected in conjunction with Jean Tinguely’s Press “Orange A+B”, Wall-E shares the artist’s fascination with machines and discarded objects. Pixar’s tale of unexpected humanity follows a small, lonely robot whose job is to clean up an abandoned planet before embarking on an unexpected adventure.

8 August – Ratatouille (2007)
Ratatouille was selected for the Family Film Screenings in response to Still Life in a Pantry, where everyday ingredients are elevated through composition and imbued with symbolic meaning. The film follows a talented rat called Remy who teams up with a young kitchen worker in Paris to secretly extraordinary dishes.

15 August – Bambi (1942)
Presented alongside the tapestry Hunting Scene Illustrating the Month of August, Bambi offers a unique reflection on humanity’s relationship with nature. Disney’s classic coming-of-age story follows a young deer growing up in the forest experiencing both wonder and tragedy.

Inspired by the Monumental Lion, The Lion King explores the lion's enduring symbolism of majesty and power across cultures. The celebrated animation follows a young lion called Simba as he returns from exile to fight for his rightful place in the Pride Lands.
