emirates7 - Venetian luxury brand Dellaluna and Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Arab world’s first universal museum are pleased to present a new partnership: the Louvre Abu Dhabi Bag. Not simply an object, it is a piece that arrives already carrying a story of its own. Conceived as an extension of the museum’s narrative, shaped by shared histories, craftsmanship, and the enduring dialogue between Venice and the Arab world.
What gives the project its real depth is the idea behind it: exchange, translated into design. Louvre Abu Dhabi stands as a symbol of dialogue between cultures, a universal museum shaped by the collection and the exchange of ideas across geographies and time. That shared history informed the designer’s approach. The Louvre Abu Dhabi Bag draws inspiration from Arab architectural language, particularly the museum’s dome, beginning with its muted stonegrey tones and extending to its geometry and rain of light as key visual references – merging with Dellaluna’s trademark pattern inspired by Venetian architecture. In this context, the partnership with Louvre Abu Dhabi is not incidental, but intrinsic to the project: a natural meeting point between design inspiration, craftsmanship, and a shared history of exchange.
Its making is central to that proposition. Each bag requires more than 150 hours of work and is produced using century-old Venetian leather craftsmanship techniques. That level of labour gives the object its authority. Every detail speaks to precision, permanence, and a respect for construction that feels entirely in step with the values of the museum. If fashion often moves at the speed of the season, this piece argues for something slower, rarer, and more exacting.
The choice of unveiling is equally precise. The collaboration will be revealed on 6 May 2026 during the Venice Biennale, at an exclusive event at Palazzina Fortuny + Chahan.
In that sense, the Louvre Abu Dhabi Bag is more than a launch. It is the expression of a shared cultural idea, that objects can carry history, embody craftsmanship, and move meaningfully between places, disciplines, and audiences.
